The first Great Wolf Lodge resort opened in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin in 1997. Almost overnight, a new trend in the hospitality industry was born, combining quality accommodations with the finest in family recreational activities – all under one roof. The wildly popular and successful resort quickly grew from 117 rooms and 20,000 square foot waterpark, to 309 Rooms and a 40,000 square foot indoor waterpark in 1999, to 437 rooms and approximately 76,000 square foot waterpark by 2006. What to bring on your trip:
A few essentials are recommended for the Great Wolf Lodge experience including swimsuit, swim trunks, plastic bag to carry wet suits home, swim goggles, earplugs, flip flops, aqua socks, waterproof watch, exercise clothing, reading materials, pajamas and slippers to wear to Story Time. Great Wolf Lodge provides towels in the waterpark area. If you’re not swimming, you may still wish to bring comfortable clothing for the 84-degree waterpark area.

The housekeeping staff works tirelessly to ensure each room is cleaned to the highest standards and to keep the common areas spotless. The waterpark utilizes state-of-the art water purification equipment to ensure water is as clean as possible for guests. To minimize the noxious effects of chemicals like chlorine, Great Wolf has developed industry-leading technology to balance effectiveness and guest comfort. They use ultra-violet purification technology to ensure that viruses and bacteria that could escape chlorination are effectively eliminated. Lastly, the cleanliness standards require that they enforce rules regarding swim diapers: all diaper dependant guests must wear waterproof swim diapers while in the waterpark area.
